The Discipline in a nutshell

Nautical Science provides the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary in the field, preparing students for employment in marine transportation. Sea experience broadens the opportunities for ships’ officers who may later be interested in shore-based positions. With technological advancements in the Marine industry the subsequent need for technical experts on board the ship is steadily on the rise.

Bachelors in Nautical Science at ITME is a three-year degree course. The BNS Course is absolutely imperative for becoming a Captain of a ship.  It trains Nautical officers in compliance with international competency standards. The study includes navigation, chartwork, ship construction and basics of marine engineering. Keeping in mind the challenging offshore conditions that are faced by sailors frequently, the programme incorporates intense physical and leadership training.
