The Discipline in a nutshell

Electronics & Electrical Engineering (EEE) is a field that involves the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. The field first became an identifiable occupation in the late nineteenth century after commercialization of the electric telegraph and electrical power supply. It now covers a range of subtopics including power, electronics, control systems, signal processing and telecommunications.

The B.Tech in Electronics & Electrical Engineering at ITME is a four-year course in eight semesters that focuses on key areas of Electronics and Electrical engineering in order to prepare graduates for a wide and varied range of career opportunities. The primary objective of the department has been to impart quality education, training and research at the undergraduate level in various areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering with broad emphasis on design aspects of electronic systems. This programme aims at producing engineers with sound knowledge in electrical engineering and a strong background in electronics.

Affiliation:

The Electronics & Electrical Engineering programme at ITME is affiliated to the West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT) and approved by AICTE.

Student Prospects

The major areas of faculty expertise of the department include Biomedical Signal Processing, Communication Systems, Computer Networks, Control Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Image Processing & Computer Vision, Instrumentation, Multimedia Security, Power Electronics, Power Systems, Radar Signal Processing, RF and Microwaves, Speech Signal Processing, VLSI Systems and MEMS. As the industry seeks out novel applications to adopt a wider role every day, requirement for qualified engineers who have specialised in this branch of technology is greater than ever.
