The Discipline in a nutshell

Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) is a field that involves complex electronic apparatus, circuits and equipment that help in executing speedy and efficient telecommunication systems. Electronics engineers design, fabricate, maintain, supervise and manufacture electronic equipment used in the entertainment media, in hospitals, in the computer industry, for communication and in defense.

The B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering at ITME is a four-year course in eight semesters that focuses on key areas of Electronics Computing and Control in order to prepare graduates for a wide and varied range of career opportunities. Modern industries demand a high degree of automation and electronic control, calling for multi-skilled engineers with the knowledge and ability to design and implement electronic control systems.

Affiliation:

The Electronics and Communication Engineering programme at ITME is affiliated to the West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT) and approved by AICTE.

Student Prospects

As more and more intelligent devices make their way into our every day life, the scope of Embedded System Design is increasing manifold. Opportunities exist and are growing in areas of telecommunication, mobile communication, industrial engineering, electronics and aerospace. As the industry seeks out novel applications to adopt a wider role everyday, requirement for qualified engineers who have specialised in this branch of technology is greater than ever.

It is not only the curriculum that is constantly updated at ITME’s Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, but laboratory facilities and other infrastructure too are overhauled and enhanced to cope with emerging developments in this ever-evolving field. The main facilities include -

A highly specialised Macro Lab, satisfactorily equipped to match M.Tech standards and training modules.
