The Neotia family has been integral to Kolkata’s corporate development for nearly 120 years. Original co-promoters of Gujarat Ambuja Cements Ltd., The Group has followed a long and successful entrepreneurial tradition with major forays into several industrial sectors.
It is Harshavardhan Neotia, the current Chairman of the Ambuja Neotia Group who diversified the family business into real estate development. His path-breaking initiatives in this field have decidedly transformed the Kolkata skyline and given to Bengal some landmark projects that live up to international standards. ‘Udayan – The Condoville’ established a new benchmark in Public Private Partnerships and was declared a Model Housing Project by the Union Government. Harshavardhan Neotia was honoured with the ‘Padmashree’ award for his maiden venture. Since then, many top-notch realty projects have been completed along with several Townships that have helped shape many a dream across Bengal.
The success of Ambuja Neotia ventures has also given a complete overhaul to the hospitality and retail sectors in the State. Raichak-on-Ganges has not only been recognised as a foremost brand in elite tourism but it has also given Kolkata a much awaited leisure escape. Ambuja–Swissotel, Kolkata is poised to be the next milestone in the field of hospitality for the Group.
In healthcare, ‘Bhagirathi Neotia Hospital’, has completed five glorious years of service to the community and two more hospitals are being set up in Kolkata and Siliguri.
Thus, it is only natural that with a strong sense of social commitment, Ambuja Neotia Group would extend its capabilities towards the development of education as well. Though not a part of the Group’s dedicated CSR programme, ITME is a non-profit venture that is counted amongst the leading private engineering colleges in the region.
